Product Introduction
Molybdenum wire is a filamentary material made of molybdenum metal. Molybdenum is a metal element with the chemical symbol Mo and the atomic number 42. It has excellent properties such as high melting point, high strength and corrosion resistance. It is one of the important industrial high-temperature materials.

Poduction Process
1)Powder metallurgy
Using the powder metallurgy method, the raw material molybdenum powder is pressed and pre-sintered to form a blank, and then the molybdenum blank is placed in a vacuum furnace or a high-temperature furnace protected by inert gas for high-temperature combustion to obtain a densified molybdenum blank.
2) Molybdenum rod forming
The molybdenum billet is processed into molybdenum rod through forging, extrusion and other processes, which is the intermediate for making Mo wire
3) Drawing molybdenum wire
At a specific temperature, the molybdenum rod is gradually drawn thinner by a drawing machine until it reaches the desired diameter of moly wire. Multiple heat treatments are required during the process to adjust the mechanical properties of the moly wire.
4) Cleaning and sintering
During the preparation process of mo wire, some impurities and oxides will adhere to it, so it needs to be cleaned. Common cleaning methods include mechanical cleaning, acid cleaning, alkaline cleaning, and electrochemical cleaning. Subsequently, the cleaned mo wire is placed in a high-temperature furnace for sintering to make its structure more dense and uniform, and to improve the mechanical properties and chemical stability of the mo wire.
5) Surface treatment
The surface treatment of mo wire is mainly to improve its corrosion resistance and arc striking performance. Common surface treatment methods include: electrolytic polishing, chemical cleaning, and oxidation to meet the needs of different fields.
Among them, the oxidation method is the most commonly used, usually called black surface, which can form an oxide film with a thickness of about 5-10um, improve the corrosion resistance and surface quality of mo wire, and also improve its conductivity.
6) Inspection and packaging
Strict quality inspection is carried out at every stage of moly wire production to ensure that the performance and quality of the moly wire meet the requirements.
Common inspection methods include: chemical analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction, etc.
Finally, cut and package the moly wire that meets the requirements for storage, transportation, and use.
Packing
Dia<0.4mm moly wire, it is wound onto a dry plastic reel, the surface is sealed with wax paper or vacuum-sealed and packed into a carton or wooden case.
Dia>0.4 mm moly wire, it is wound into a reel and tightly wrapped with moisture-proof paper or plastic strips, packed into a cardboard box or wooden box.
Storage
Keep the mo wire in a ventilated and cool place with low humidity to avoid oxidation;
During the process of moving, handling and storage, pay attention to the integrity of the sealed package of the mo wire to avoid damage to the package.
Under normal circumstances, the sealed package of mo wire can be stored at room temperature for 1-2 years.
If the mo wire is stored for too long before use, please note whether there is an obvious oxide layer and discoloration on its surface. If so, special treatment or replacement is required.
