Product Introduction

Molybdenum rod is a rod-shaped material made of metal molybdenum as the main component.

The main material is pure molybdenum or molybdenum alloy. The purity of pure molybdenum rod reaches more than 99.95%, while molybdenum alloy rod is based on molybdenum and other elements are added to improve its performance and wear resistance.

Product Classification

Molybdenum rod can be divided into black moly rod, chemical washed moly rod, lathe turning moly rod, polished moly rod according to different surface conditions.

Black moly rod refers to the mo rod produced by forging or rotary swaging processes. The surface is covered with a slight oxide film and forging hammer marks, showing a black metallic surface.

Alkaline washed moly rod refers to the black mo rod that undergoes chemical cleaning treatment (alkali washed or acid washed) to remove the oxide layer or oil stains on the surface of mo rod. They can show silver gray alkaline washed surface.

Lathe Turning moly rod refers to remove the oxide layer on the surface of the mo rod with a lathe. The surface of the lathe turning mo rod is smooth and has a silver metallic luster. The surface finish is second only to the polished mo rod.

Polished or ground moly rod means that the forged moly rod needs to be polished by a centerless grinder or an external grinder to remove the black oxide layer. In this way, Mo rod can achieve more accurate diameter control, smaller tolerances, and higher precision.

The polished mo rod has a smooth surface with a silver metallic luster, no significant oxidation.

Surface requirement: All the surface of the mo rod should be free of delamination, cracks, burrs, and longitudinal cracks or any other defects.




Molybdenum Rod Characteristics And Application

Moly rods have high melting points, good thermal conductivity, and low thermal expansion properties. At high temperatures, they can resist oxidation and has high strength. So, moly rods usually be used to manufacture electric vacuum devices and electric light source components.

Secondly, moly rods can maintain stable heating performance at high temperatures, usually reaching above 1800℃. This make them very suitable as high temperature furnace heating elements, high temperature heater and high temperature structural parts, electrodes, furnace heating rod, guide rod ect.

In addition, they also have high hardness and good thermal stability. Therefore, moly rods are widely used in high-temperature furnaces, electron tube supports, electrodes, crucible supports, and other fields.

In the glass and refractory fiber industry, they are used as electrodes in glass furnaces, working in 1300℃ molten glass and have a long service life.

Our Mo rods are packed in standard export three-ply plywood boxes, which are tightly filled with plastic foam to minimize the collision damage of the goods during transportation or storage. And desiccant will be placed in the box.
